Puerto Rican Piña Colada

Puerto Rican Piña Colada
When Isaac and I visited Puerto Rico back in February for Valentine’s Day, I was determined to take a cooking class to learn all about the Puerto Rican cuisine. Little did I know, we’d be entering the land where piña coladas originate from. The piña colada was created by a chef in San Juan, Puerto Rico who aimed to capture the tropical flavors of the island. The local who hosted our cooking class invited us into his home and taught us how to make the authentic recipe, and it blew our minds. I’m not ashamed to say that I had a piña colada with every meal during our trip. How could I not? So today, I’m passing down the authentic piña colada recipe to you, so you can prepare it in your own kitchen without having to book a flight to Puerto Rico!
Ingredients:
- fruit from 1 pineapple
- 15 oz cream of coconut
- 3 cups ice
Instructions:
- Blend ingredients together, and garnish with a pineapple wedge, cherry, & a leaf from the crown of a pineapple!
Notes:
Cream of coconut is thick and syrupy. It’s not the same as coconut cream or coconut milk. Make sure to keep this in mind when grocery shopping for your ingredients!
Hi Friends!
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy this refreshing piña colada is much as I do. Happy blending!
